Why NASA Will Lose in August Elections.

Sometime last year, the majority leader of the National Assembly, Hon. Aden Duale issued a statement in reply to Raila’s claim that the jubilee was planning to steal the elections. In his statement, Duale said that the opposition was preparing their supporters psychologically for a terrible defeat in the general elections.

I had personally refuted the statement till last Friday when it dawned me that NASA would lose the elections. Despite gaining momentum by combining forces with Musalia Mudavadi, Gideon Moi, and Isaac Ruto, NASA will lose due to the following reasons:

  1. There is low voter registration turnout in their strongholds as compared to Jubilee’s strongholds. By Friday 10th, February 2017, the number of newly registered voters in Siaya County was slightly above 43,000 while in Meru County was above 120,000, a sign that NASA is likely to be beaten arms down.
  2. Cords reunion with Musalia Mudavadi only adds about 600,000 votes to NASA’s basket which is too less to enable them to win the elections.
  3. Support from Gideon Moi and Isaac Ruto is equivalent to nothing since the current political kingpin of the Rift Valley is William Ruto.
  4. In the history of East Africa, no sitting president has ever been defeated by the opposition team and definitely, Uhuru Kenyatta won’t give in to be the first so NASA should be preparing for 2022 general elections.
